Common questions

What iPhone do I need to run Spokn?
Spokn requires iOS 26 or later and an iPhone 16 or newer. On-device AI cleanup uses Apple Foundation Models, which require the A18 chip or later for the best experience.
Does Spokn work offline?
Yes — entirely. Transcription, AI cleanup, and every core feature work with no internet connection. Spokn has no servers to call — the network is only ever touched if you switch on optional iCloud Drive sync.
How does the AI cleanup work?
After each recording, Spokn passes your transcript to Apple's on-device Foundation Model (the same tech powering Apple Intelligence). It removes filler words like "um", "uh", and "like", smooths false starts, and lightly cleans up punctuation — all without touching your meaning or sending data anywhere.
Is my voice data private?
Completely. Spokn has no backend servers. Speech recognition runs on-device using Apple's speech framework, and AI cleanup uses Apple Foundation Models — neither sends audio or text off your device. There's no account to create, and no analytics are collected.
How does CarPlay support work?
Spokn supports CarPlay with a voice-first interface built for the road. When your iPhone is connected to a compatible car, a simple Spokn screen shows your recording status and time. Start, pause, and stop entirely by tapping the CarPlay screen or asking Siri — no need to touch your phone.
How do I get my transcriptions out of Spokn?
Two options. On-device storage writes a plain-text file for every transcription into the Spokn folder of the iOS Files app — visible to any other app that can read Files. iCloud Drive sync (optional) writes the same files into iCloud Drive › Spokn, so they're available on every device signed into your iCloud account. You can also share any transcription via the standard iOS share sheet. More export destinations are planned for future releases.
